The Girl with all the Gifts

‘The Girl with All the Gifts’ promises an all-star cast, a deadly premise and enough tension to put some of the summer blockbusters to shame. We have a look at the trailer…

We’re always in the market for a film that has us on the edge of our seat for a variety of reasons. Obviously, we like our action quotient, but we also like to be invested in ‘real’ characters and situations that involve more than punching or shooting your way out of a situation. Later this year we’ll hopefully be getting the full package with a project that could easily be described as the ‘28 Days Later‘ of 2016.

The Girl with all the Gifts, an adaptation of the acclaimed novel of the same name by M R Carey (also the creator of the Lucifer comic) , slowly unveils a world that is more deadly than first indicated. In an isolated military installation children are apparently being schooled by a caring teacher, but – look closer – they are chained up, held in cells at night and the teacher is forbidden from touching them. Outside a terrible danger surrounds them – and within..humanity’s greatest threat may be its only hope.

The film, which is released by Warner Bros. on 23rd September in the UK (a US date is still to be officially confirmed), has an all-star and talented cast that includes the likes of Sennia Nanua, Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close and Paddy Considine. The trailer, which you can watch below, is tense, dramatic and seems to balance out the elements of humanity and inhumanity on show.

After a summer of lukewarm entries, we have a feeling that this could be one of the 2016 entries we’ll be talking about for much, much longer…
