Having made a semi-debut on US show Entertainment Tonight, the full trailer for Jack Reacher: Never Go Back has hit the internet in its ‘virgin’ form and for all to see. The sequel once again sees Tom Cruise take on the role of the ex-soldier and one-man army who has his own way of upholding a higher degree of ‘justice’ than the law sometimes allows. He largely prefers to be unbothered, but when something ‘bothers’ him, he usually likes to pass on the hurt.
The sequel sees him coming to the aid of an old military friend and colleague Susan Turner (How I Met Your Mother, The Avengers‘ Cobie Smulders) who stands accused of espionage and has become the target of those who appear to have framed her. Reacher breaks her out of confinement and they set about clearing both their names and their troubled history.
Ahead of the original’s release, many complained that Cruise was mis-cast in a role of a protagonist who was famously tall and heavily-built in the original novels penned by Lee Child… but he appeared to win over audiences and the film’s box-office was pretty impressive. The trailer for the sequel gives a good indication of what we can expect – which is more of the same… and that may be no bad thing.
The film will hit cinemas in the UK and US on 21st October…
