Torchwood gets US Launch date

With the return of Doctor Who only a few weeks away, the US cable network Starz has announced when the new Torchwood will debut Stateside…

The mini-series Torchwood: Miracle Day has been building momentum for quite some time (see our previous news updates) and the international Who spin-off  has finally got a confirmed date for its US broadcast. It will debut on  Friday, July 8 with ten episodes planned for the season.  At this point the UK broadcast, expected to be very close to the US air-date, has not been confirmed.

The project is still currently in production in LA with American stars, stars Mekhi Phifer, Bill Pullman, Ernie Hudson and Lauren Ambrose joining in the new story  with established characters Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman) and Gwen Cooper (played by Eve Myles).    Russell T Davies has promised to amp up the action and scale of the drama which has already received plaudits after a particularly effective mini-series Children of Earth. In this new story, the team have to investigate when people all around the world suddenly become immortal.
