While fans wait to see if ‘Jean-Claude Van Johnson‘ is picked up for a full series by Amazon, Van Damme has other projects that look likely to keep him busy for a while…
Impact Magazine’s original cover star will soon be reunited with long time friend and martial arts associate Peter Malota (Double Impact, The Quest), who will be directing him in the action thriller Kill ‘Em All, with a supporting cast that includes screen veteran Peter Stormare, Kris Van Damme ( Assassination Games) and Daniel Bernhardt (Bloodsport 2).
Malota was born in Albania, before making the move Stateside, and made his film debut alongside the Rhee Brothers in Furious and LA Streetfighters aka Ninja Turf, before getting his most well known role as ‘the bodyguard with spurs’ on Double Impact (on which he also served as one of the fight choreographers), The Quest as one of the fighters for the tournament, Inferno, and The Order. Recent credits as a stunt coordinator include The Perfect Weapon with Steven Seagal. Kill ‘Em All marks his official directorial debut. Early word on the project suggests the movie has a Usual Suspects meets Smoking Aces feel, with some dark humour blended with strong action and drama.
In addition, Van Damme is also scheduled to shoot DOG the sixth movie from writer/director Samuel Benchetrit, which will costar Vanessa Paradis, and is a Kafka’esque tale of a man who finds himself turning into a dog. Sounds… barking.
Meanwhile we’re still waiting with fingers crossed for confirmation that the Amazon pilot Jean-Claude Van Johnson gets picked up for a full run. There’s also been talk of a potential reboot/sequel to Jean-Claude’s Lionheart (also known as AWOL or Wrong Bet in certain countries) with Van Damme’s name linked to the project too.
