‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ and ‘Lord of the Rings‘ hero Orlando Bloom tries his hand at being the next Jason Statham in S.M.A.R.T. Chase (formerly the slightly more descriptive Smart Chase: Fire & Earth)…
The film is directed by Charles Martin (Skins, Being Human) who makes his feature directorial debut with the project. The film was shot in Shanghai with Bloom heading an eclectic cast that includes Simon Yam (Bullet in the Head), Lynn Hung (Ip Man 1-3), Xing Yu (Kung Fu Hustle), and Hannah Quinlivan.
S.M.A.R.T. Chase sees Bloom as a washed up private security agent who is given a chance to redeem himself. He takes the assignment to transport a valuable Chinese antique out of Shanghai, but is ambushed en route, and forced to fight a veritable army of bad guys to try and complete his mission.
The film was written by Kevin Bernhardt whose credits as a write include One Last Chance and Elephant White, but is possibly most recognisable to viewers for his role as the ill-fated cameraman turned Cenobite in Hellraiser 3. The film features some very impressive looking action courtesy of Fight Choreographer Tomer Oz (Dragon Blade) and his team – which includes Kazu Tang (Raging Phoenix, Triple Threat), Eric Cullet (Mercury Man), Alex Bailey (Time Raiders) and Ocean Hou from Man of Tai Chi.
