Sharlto Copley set for Oldboy Remake

The District 9 star is the latest name to join the cast of Spike Lee's remake of a modern eastern classic, Oldboy

It now appears that District 9 and A-Team star Sharlto Copley has been cast as billionnaire Adrian Pryce the main villain in the remake of classic eastern outing Oldboy, originally helmed by Chan-Wook Park. The remake is being directed by Spike Lee, with Josh Brolin taking the central role of a man who has been imprisoned for fifteen years, not knowing by whom or why.  Elizabeth Olsen will play the care-worker he teams up with to try and find out what  really happened. The original film proved very controversial on its release and remains a genre talking point to this day – so many fans are wondering if Lee and his team will seek to travel a simialr route or produce an alternative climax for the American re-imagining.

Copley, whose next acting outing is Neill Blomkamp's secrecy-laden scifi outing Elysium in 2013, has also been cast in another project which could appeal to the same audience as Oldboy. Open Grave sees him playing a man who wakes up in a pit of dead bodies and comes to beleive he might be the man who murdered them all.  It will be directed by Gonzalo Gallego (Apollo 18)
