Casting Call-Out: The Wolverine…

As Jessica Biel becomes the latest actor heading to Australia and Japan for The Wolverine, we look at how the cast is shaping up…

It's been a busy week for the upcoming production The Wolverine – with the latest actor, Jessica Biel being confirmed for the role of the duplicitous Viper this afternoon. So, time for a rundown of who's in and who's not.

Star will be joined by  Beil and…Wil Yun Lee (Hawaii Five-O, The Bionic Woman, Die Another Day) as Kenuichio Harada – aka The Silver Samurai; Hiroyuki Sanada (The Promise, 47 Ronin, Speed Racer, Rush Hour) as Eastern crimelord Shingen Yashida,  Hal Yamanouchi (Push, The Way Back, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) in a role only referred to as 'Yashida', (maybe the patriach of the clan?) model Tao Okamoto  making her international big-screen debut as Logan's eastern love Mariko Yashida; relative newcomer Rila Fukushima as Yukio, the ninja-like street-thief who helps and Brian Tee (Crash, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, Bones, Burn Notice) as the character Noburo Mori.

The film is being directed by who helmed Copland, Knight and Day, the under-rated and subversive slasher-thriller Identity, Girl Interrupted and Walk the Line. Mangold stepped in after Darren Aronofsky left the project when the Japnese disasters delayed the original stardate. The proeduction will be working from a screenplay co-written by Christopher McQuarrie of The Usual Suspects fame.

This second solo outing for the character, based on the original source material created by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, will hit screens next summer…
