All White (House) on the Night…

You'd think the White House would only be the scene of political dramas, but it's also the setting of some upcoming action-fuelled outings…

Typical. You wait for a Die Hardesque tale set within the confines of the Oval office, and Yipeee kaiyai, Mr.President, there’s suddenly two contenders in the works.

White House Down being developed by Roland Emmerich with Channing Tatum (GI Joe) as a secret service agent trapped within the famous presidential abode when terrorists take over the building and take the President (Jamie Foxx)hostage.

Meanwhile Antoine Fuqua is developing Olympus has Fallen with Gerard Butler as a secret service agent battling North Korean terrorists who have taken over the building, and with Aaron Eckhart & Ashley Judd as the President & First Lady, and Man with the Iron Fists and Die Another Day’s Rick Yuen set to play the main Korean antagonist.

Drama in the Oval Office and the Presidency are nothing new to the screen. From Absolute Power, Murder at 1600 and the final season of 24, we’ve seen the most secure building in America become the setting for intrigue and derring-do… never mind the aliens of Independence Day showing their displeasure…
