John Leguizamo is the latest name to join the expanding cast of Kick Ass 2 which will begin shooting in the next couple of months.
Over the years, the actor has proven himself adept in a diverse number of projects… from Mario Bros, Romeo + Juliet, To Wong Foo, Spawn, Land of the Dead, Assault on Precinct 13, Ice Age and The Lincoln Lawyer. Earlier this year was even cast in a US version of Only Fools and Horses, which has now been (perhaps wisely) abandoned. For the Kick Ass sequel, directed by Jeff Wadlow, he is apparently playing the role of Javier, one of the chief henchmen of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-plasse).
Many of the (surviving) characters from the original will be returning: Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski – the title hero, Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, with the story being based on elements of the already-published Kick-Ass 2 and Hit Girl comics (created, of course, by Mark Millar and John Romita Jnr.). Rumours circulate that Nicolas Cage's Big Daddy character may be seen in flashbacks, but this has not been confirmed.
We'll have more news for you in the next few weeks…
