Michael Weatherly was such a presence on NCIS that is seems they need a whole new raft of characters to fill the gap… the new season will see Jethro Gibbs recruit several new regulars…
After thirteen years as Tony DiNozzo, Michael Weatherly departed NCIS, America’s most watched action-show, in May for pastures new (including the new CBS drama Bull) but the top-rated series won’t be leaving a gap… in fact there are three new characters coming in to the mix.
British MI6 officer Clayton Reeves, played by Duane Henry, was introduced at the end of the last run with strong consideration to him sticking around thereafter. CBS has confirmed that’s the case, though Sarah (24) Clarke’s FBI Agent Tess Monroe who appeared in the same two-parter and was also rumoured to return, won’t be back.
However two new characters ARE being introduced. They are Wilmer (That 70s’ Show) Valderrama as a NCIS field agent who vanished into a deep cover assignment years ago with many agents not knowing if he’s even still alive and Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods) as Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn an instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center whom Gibbs recruits into his team at the start of the new run in September.
Season 14 begins its US run on 20th September.. The bigger team will allow for a different, wider mix of stories. All the regulars, bar Weatherly, have signed new contracts for two more seasons and the show looks to continue its ratings dominance for some time to come…
