The 2007 live-action cinematic adaptation of the Hitman computer game - starring a folically-challenged Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott and Olga Kurylenko - got, what we'd call in the business, a decidely mixed response, the kind that could stop a franchise in its tracks even if it makes a profit (it actually cleared $100m). So it's interesting that industry-site Deadline have noted that Fox International Pictures are announcing another Hitman outing, though this is going to be a major reboot rather than a sequel.
Taking on the role of the genetically-engineered assassin of the original title - in a film that will actually be called 'Agent 47' after his other nom-de-plume -will be Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker.
The film will be directed by Aleksander Bach, making his feature debut, from a script being provided by A Good Day to Die Hard's Skip Woods (who also wrote the original Hitman) and Michael Finch. Locations earmarked for the June-July shooting include Singapore and Berlin.
