New fingers on the 'Button'

The adaptation of Button Man edges a little further towards the screen with a new writer attached to the 'duelling assassins' saga...

Matt Cook is the latest writer to take a crack at the adaptation of Button Man, the tale originally told by writer John Wagner and artist Arthur Ranson in a series of 'chapters' starting in the pages of 2000AD in 1992. The premise is the story of Harry Exton, a hired assassin who ends up in the middle of a real-life game of survival set up by a group of bored billionnaires - pitting killers against each other in a series of games to the death. When Harry decides he doesn't want to be anyone's puppet anymore, he has to survive the threat of his fellow 'contestants' and also the machinations of the billionnaires themselves.  Cook comes aboard after Insomnia writer Hilary Seitz had provided a previous version.

The film, entitled Button Man: The Killing Game, is to be directed by Drive's Nicolas Winding Refn and is one of various 2000AD characters in various stages of planned production...
