Kick-Ass 2, 2 Guns and Hobbit change release dates...

Written by (Editor) on 1st March 2013

As the releases mount up, several major upcoming movies will now debut on different dates than originally planned...

As is often the case as dates are compared and contrasted with rival distributors, there's been a shuffling of the deck with regard to some notable upcoming films. Kick-Ass 2, continuing the Mark Millar/John Romita created characters, will now hit US screens on August 16th rather than the previously announced June 28th date. This is, in part, due to other Universal films also moving dates, including the Denzel Washington / Mark Wahlberg thriller 2 Guns which will debut on August 2nd (the same day that the sequels to RED and 300 will be out).

Looking further ahead, the final Hobbit movie (There and Back Again) is moving more dramatically... from a mid-year date of July 18th 2014 to the end of year slot, December 17th 2014... most likely to accomodate a busy post-production schedule and which will also see it avoid a direct head-to-head clash with th equally-anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The Hobbit's second chapter (The Desolation of Smaug) is still on target for a December 13th 2013 date.
