Wahlberg Pays Tribute To 2010 Disaster In Deepwater Horizon

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he sees the upcoming release of his latest movie ‘Deepwater Horizon’ as a tribute to the eleven people who lost their lives in the oil spill disaster on the Gulf of Mexico 6 years ago…

The American biographical disaster thriller (that covers all the bases!)is set for release on 30th September and will see Wahlberg take on the role of Mike Williams, an engineer who has to leave his family to work on the oil rig which soon turns into a setting of extreme danger which puts all of the workers lives at risk.

The film is based around the tragic events of the 2010 explosion which cost BP over £50 billion in compensation and penalties, and has received generally favourable reviews following its premiere at the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday.

Wahlberg stars in the movie alongside The Hateful Eight actor and Kurt’s Golden Globe-winning step daughter Kate Hudson, as well as critically acclaimed actor and director John Malkovich who adds more fire power to a strong cast.

Deepwater Horizon is directed by Peter Berg, who has The Kingdom, Hancock and Battleship on his list of films, and the American has claimed that not much was needed to be done to the story to make it compelling viewing with the movie sticking to facts.

This will see continue to show his versatility in the industry by once again moving away from the recent comedic sides to his roles. He and Berg worked together on the 2013 war film Lone Survivor.

So, we have to wait until the end of the month to see Deepwater Horizon, but it doesn’t look like it is going to disappoint in providing some edge of the seat thrilling action…
