Michael Rooker has had a long and illustrious career as moody heroes, anti-heroes and outright bad guys in such films as Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Days of Thunder, Misssissippi Burning, Jumper, JFK, The Sixth Day, The Bone Collector, Cliffhanger and even Stargate SG1. Current audiences will know him best for the the mean, moody and very dangerous Merle in The Walking Dead. After rumours going back several months, it's now confirmed that he's swapping the undead for the cosmic with industry site Deadline reporting the actor's has been cast in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie from Marvel Studios. He is down to play game-hunter 'Yondi', from the planet Centauri IV and one of the comic's original line-up (though not in its current incarnation).
James Gunn is helming the movie, which is expected to have at least some subtle links to the other Marvel movies as part of their 'Phase 2' of production, including rumours of an appearance by Iron Man. The film is currently prepping in the UK for an August 2014 release...
