Indonesian actor Joe Taslim made quite an impact with his role in Gareth Evans' The Raid (as one of Iko Uwais ill-fated SWAT team), and will soon be seen kicking butt and taking names as one of the villains in the lastest Fast & Furious film, but he hits the UK this month in the action thriller Dead Mine from HBO Asia.
Taslim stars alongside cult Japanese actress Miki Mizuno (Hard Revenge Milly), Sam Hazeldine and Indonesian actor Ario Bayu (Java Heat, Serangoon Road), under the direction of Sam Sheil (Mum & Dad). The slick action thriller from HBO Asia brings together elements of classic 70s horror movie Shock Waves, Neil Marshall’s The Descent and the Ray Stevenson horror thriller Outpost.
The story tells how the legend of Yamashita's Gold lures a treasure hunter and his group deep into the Indonesian jungle. Once they are trapped in an abandoned World War II Japanese bunker, they face the terrifying reality that the only way out is to go further into the complex and discover a living dead force of geneticly enhanced super soldiers looking for blood! Well... of course it is!
The film makes for great "Beer & Pizza" viewing, as the team of adventurers find themselves outnumbered, outgunned and out of luck as a combination of greed, bad luck and the eternal evil of Asia rips their souls apart!
