Bruce Fontaine: Beyond Redemption

Beyond Redemption

In recent years has moved behind the camera with his martial-arts talents…. but it’s only now that he’s directing for the first time. Will he find ‘…Redemption‘ in his new project?

Former movie journeyman Bruce Fontaine had some memorable roles as a high kicking Gwailo bad boy battling in Operation Condor, Jacky Cheung and Stephen Chow in Curry & Pepper, Billy Blanks in King of the Kickboxers and a leading role in IFD classic Kickboxer King (produced by Joseph Lai amongst many others). Fontaine also become a very high profile contributor to the martial arts press with countless articles appearing in periodicals and outlets ranging from Impact, Combat, MAI through to Inside Kung Fu and Black Belt chronicling his adventures in both martial arts and martial arts movie making. After moving back to his native Canada shortly before the HK handover, Fontaine has worked mainly behind the scenes as a stuntman, choreographer and trainer on such projects as Wesley Snipes’ Futuresport, Agent Cody Banks, Blade: Trinity, Replicant and various proejcts for Electronic Arts, before making his feature length directorial debut with the thriller Beyond Redemption.

The fast paced action film features plenty of high-impact fight and stunt sequences highlighting many of the top stunt performers in Canada (for their acting as well as their action chops this time around). The film which will be released by Well Go USA in early 2017 tells of an undercover cop who  must battle to protect the innocent daughter of a Triad boss…while maintaining his cover and keeping them both alive when they get caught in the middle of a sting operation that goes horribly wrong.

The film stars stunt maestro (who has performed stunts and fights in titles including Marco Polo S1 & 2, Outcast, the upcoming Wolf Warrior 2 to the Sleeping Dogs video game and live action trailer), and Kung Fu Killer‘s Osric Chau, Darren E Scott from Man with the Iron Fists and Almost Human, and Hong Kong Legend Eddie Ko (whose credits include Tsui Hark’s We’re Going to Eat YouLethal Weapon 4 , Johnnie To’s The Mission and John Woo’s Heroes Shed No Tears and so much more. The film also stars Linna Huynh, Tony Towe, Don Lew, Paul Wu, Johnson Phan, Vicky Huang, , Patrick Sabongui, Peter Chao, The Chengman and Leenda Dong
