Peter O’Toole: Diamond Geezer…

Diamond Cartel

Peter O’Toole, often considered to be one of the greatest actors of his generation, passed in 2013. His final film, ‘Diamond Cartel‘, an international-cast action thriller in the vein of ‘The Expendables’, will finally reach cinemas in early 2017…

The Whole World at our Feet aka Diamond CartelIndustry site Deadline reports that Diamond Cartel, Peter O’Toole’s final project before his passing in December 2013, will finally get a release in the US, UK and Australian markets early next year courtesy of Cleopatra Entertainment and Shoreline Entertainment.

The much respected O’Toole worked (and drank) steadily throughout his life – with obvious high points including Lawrence of Arabia, Present Laughter and The Lion in Winter which earned him rave reviews and awards – but he eased back from performances after 2007, six years before his death..

Diamond Cartel was originally listed as being called The Whole World at Our Feet and was filmed in Kazakhstan. It was directed by Salamat Mukhammed-Ali who brought together a truly international cast of eastern and western stars for the project. It was lensed in 2012 and 2013 and is said to have an ‘Expendables‘ feel albeit with less of a budget. While clearly not the greatest film of O’Toole’s illustrious career, the film’s trailer – below – certainly points to a project that might be tight on budget but not on actual ambition in the action department – or taking itself TOO seriously.

O’Toole’s co-stars for the film included the likes of Michael Madsen (Kill Bill),  the prolific Armand Assante, Enter the Dragon‘s Bolo Yeung, screen veteran Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Don “The Dragon” Wilson.
