One of the big films we're looking forward to this year is the Captain America sequel, 'The Winter Soldier'.
Taking place some time after the events of the Avengers film, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is attempting to fully adjust to life in the twenty-first century. He's coming to terms with some of the jumps in technology that happened in the sixty or so years he was encased in ice... but he's less easy about some of the changes in morality. We already saw his reaction to Nick Fury's (Samuel L Jackson) possibly moral duplicity in getting the job done in the Avengers film and we're about to see that become even more of a problem when Rogers begins to suspect that there's a conspiracy going on higher up in the SHIELD organisation - possibly involving bigwig Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford).
As attempts are made on his life, he teams up with Natasha Romanoff / The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Sam Wilson / the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to find out what's really going on. But he may not be ready for the answers... especially as they echo back to a familiar face from the past and an agent known only as 'The Winter Soldier'. ..
Marvel Studios and Marvel.com have just released a raft of stills from the film which will be in US cinemas- and around the world - from April. If it follows some of the intrigue of the comics-story it's based upon, then we can expect a darker, more nuanced political story amongst all the derring-do...
