It wasn't that many years ago when the disparity between international release dates was cavernous - the difference between a film released in the UK and US could be a matter of months. That has largely changed and though there are sometimes a few weeks' difference, the main factors are now HOW a project is released and in what formats...
Gina Carano's next film, In the Blood, is a good example of a new trend of productions that are released in more than one format simultaneously. In this case Anchor Bay Films and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have agreed a a joint distribution deal in America for the John Stockwell (Blue Crush) directed movie that sees the the Haywire star and ex-MMAer athlete playing 'Ava' whose husband goes missing during an expdition on their Caribbean honeymoon. As luck would have it, Ava has a particular set of fighting skills that will come in very handy as she encounters a series of people who help and hinder her search for her new husband and the truth. These faces include the reliable Danny Trejo, Treat Williams and Stephen Lang.
The film will debut in the US in cinemas, On Demand and iTunes on April 4th.
Ironically, there isn't a confirmed UK release date at present, but this is the trailer...
