Doctor Who has managed to attract a vast number of veteran and well-known actors as guest-stars - with even John Hurt being retro-fitted as the Doctor himself.
The latest name is well-known comedian and actor Ben Miller. Though known for his outright comedic roles (and being fifty per-cent of Armstrong & Miller with the host of Pointless, Alexander Armstrong) Miller has also appeared in a number of more action-based projects such as Johnny English, and as another English police-officer abroad in Death in Paradise... and bureaucratic dinosaur-hunter in Primeval.
Who showrunner Steven Moffat says that Miller will be a 'storming villain' (rather than a 'Stormageddon' one?) in a Mark Gatiss-penned episode of the new series that is currently being filmed with a broadcast date said to be around August/September.
“As a committed Whovian, I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures, Miller said in a statement. “My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.”
