Filming got underway this week on Ayoub Qanir's new psychological sci-fi thriller 'Artificio Conceal', lensing in London and the Home Counties...
Artificio Conceal is a new psychological thriller, written and directed by Qanir, whose previous films include Koyakatsi (see the video trailer for that below) and Human After All. It tells the story of a man who awakens in an Interpol interrogation room to find his mind ‘hacked’; his memories replaced and his identity lost. As the engineer of the world’s most precise Quantum Logic clock, he must discover who hacked his nervous system and stole the device responsible for time itself. His quest to identify the perpetrator leads him somewhere he could never have anticipated...
Qanir had already announced some of the film's cast. They include David Bailie (Pirates of the Caribbean), Simon Armstrong (Game of Thrones), Nick Cornwall (Blood Loyal) and Andrew Whipp (Amazing Grace). He is especially happy to have, what he describes as a 'major new British talent' in striking actor Duran Fulton-Brown.....
Ann Reynolds, of the Huffington Post, recently previewed the production, noting that: "...this is not your typical sci-fi thriller entertainment fest, but a serious reminder that you've got a lot of on-board equipment you're laying to waste.”
Ayoub Qanir and Patryk Hardziej have additionally conceptualised the world of Artificio Conceal into a comic book which will be released alongside the film, in a limited print run and digital format.
“I was introduced to Patryk’s work about a year ago, and became an instant fan” explains Qanir, “we immediately collaborated on two projects, namely Duke Rising and We Are Meaning." Ayoub adds, "I truly appreciate his illustrative style. His work is very deconstructed, sophisticated, moody, thorough and unique. And I am delighted with what we have produced and looking forward to the release of the comic.”
“Working with Ayoub is a completely different level of experience, he is not just another collaborator, but someone who opens your mind and makes your work better every time. He knows how to create original yet simple worlds that charm you through. Then you wake up and realize how awesome and relevant the journey was. Ayoub is truly a visionary who accomplishes extraordinary things," Hardziej, who also created the poster for the film, explained.
The short film will shoot until the end of the month for a release sometime in 2015.
