Director Isaac Florentine introduced the world to the '...most complete fighter in the world' the syndicate's Soviet mean machine Yuri Boyka, played by Scott Adkins in Undisputed 2 - where he played the villain - and Undisputed 3 where Boyka became the hero. The character of Boyka made a huge impact and really introduced the world to Adkins and his abilities as a screen fighter. Since the release of the third film there's been a lot of talk and internet debate over a potential fourth chapter and what would happen to Boyka's character: would he find himself recruited for another underground tournament or would they go with the idea that appealed to us, a more Walking Tall/First Blood styled tale as Boyka tries to rebuild his life on the outside?
In a recent interview with www.moviecricket.com , Florentine confirms that an Undisputed 4 is in the works but hints at a new development in the character.
"Something is always changing in Boyka. That character is deeply religious. Already you see this in the scene that establishes him in Undisputed 2. In Undisputed 3 we see what motives him is that he is truly religious. Basically this will continue to motivate him in the next chapter…" Florentine explains.
The idea of a religious Boyka does make you think, and we get a Boondocks Saint styled vibe for Boyka, dishing out all kinds of high impact martial artistry while reciting text from the Bible..or perhaps singing along to the Happy Mondays Hallelujah:
"Hallelujah, hallelujah, Not sent to save ya, Just here to spank ya, Play some games..."
