Jackie Chan has long been known for doing a lot of his own stunts and paying the price with bruises and broken bones - but generally all the stories have been about his injuries. Sadly, industry site Deadline is reporting that an accident on set of Skiptrace has resulted in the death of a camerman.
According to reports the man, named as fifty-one-year-old Chan Kwok-hung (with whom Chan also worked on Stephen Chow's God of Cookery) drowned while filming a sequence for the film aboard a boat near Lantau Island.
Sources including the South China Morning Post said that the boat capsized about 100 feet from the shore. There were conflicting reports as to whether Chan was also on the boat, though seven crew members able to swim back to the shore. It appears there is only the one fatality at the moment, with Chan Kwok-hung found unconscious and later confirmed deceased at North Lantau Hospital.
The film has had various changes since pre-production, with Renny Harlin stepping in to replace the originally-touted director Sam Fell and Johnny Knoxville replacing Seann William Scott who left over conflicting schedules. X-Men: Days of Future Past's Fan Bingbing is still on board and the project is currently in production and on schedule for a projected late 2015 release.
