BMX meets WTF? 'Turbo Kid' revs up cult cred...

22nd June 2015

Already a festival favourite...are you ready for the outrageous antics, cult chaos and grand-guignol grunge that is the retro-fitted post-apocalyptic 'Turbo Kid'?

Turbo KidSo, over the last few months you've seen that unofficial Power Rangers short with Katee Sachoff... then you watched Mad Max: Fury Road... and you thought - obviously - why doesn't someone create a project that combines both... a spoonful of silliness with a soupcon of grit and a bucket-load of anarchy. Well, true believers, your wait is over... or nearly over... because he we have the trailer for Turbo Kid.

The premise of the film reads thus: In the post-apocalyptic future that is 1997 a young BMX-riding, solitary scavenger (Munro Chambers) obsessively reads his favourite comic 'Turbo Kid' and  looks for water - and items in the ruins that he can trade for water. He encounters a strange girl called 'Apple' (Laurence Leboeuf) and they both have to take on the machinations of ''Zeus', (the ever-reliable Michael Ironside) the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, who plagues their every move.

The trailer below gives you an idea of the retro-feel OTT anarchy that ensues, full of the kind of  blood, sweat, tears and 'they just did what?' that would make Quentin Tarantino despair.

It will be hitting the VOD format in August...
