'Warrior' gets 'Brotherly' love in Bollywood...

26th June 2015

Hooray for Bollywood...  star Akshay Kumar is one of the names headlining 'Brothers', an Indian remake of the acclaimed action-drama 'Warrior'...

Remakes are nothing new - Hollywood can barely go a month without reinventing a bygone classic in the hopes of reaping further rewards. But what we are starting to see more than ever  are international remixes of those themes - the basic idea, plot and characters taken and tweaked to fit other cultures. Several eastern classics have got the Hollywood treatment but now Bollywood is taken a serious stab at the recent Tom Hardy / Joel Edgerton / Nick Nolte drama 'Warrior' with 'Brothers'... the action transplanted to mixed-martial arts in India and featuring one of Bollywood's biggest names Akshay Kumar.

The premise: David (Kumar) is forced to confront his underlying problems when he finds himself reunited with his estranged family; his father (Jackie Shroff) returns after serving a ten-year prison sentence, and Monty (Sidharth Malhotra) the struggling alcoholic who is active in the world of street fighting, yearns for acceptance and love from his family. Brought together by the arrival of India’s biggest international event in mixed martial arts history, ‘Right to Fight’, the family must face each other, and their demons, to win the ultimate battle, and find redemption.
