It seems as if Impact's original cover star Jean-Claude Van Damme has been living a lie, his real name is not Jean-Claude Van Damme, but Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and his entire film career has been a cover for his real occupation as the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world!
Scott Free Productions, founded by Sir Ridley Scott and his late brother, fellow film-maker Tony Scott, is developing a new TV series for CBS with the working title of Jean-Claude Van-Johnson, to be produced by Scott and Dave Callahan (who also serves as writer and producer for the series). According to Scott it will '...show the martial arts and film star in a new light...' that would surprise fans.
Jean-Claude has previously played with his image in the meta-comedy drama JCVD, and dabbled in reality TV with Behind Closed Doors. Welcome to the Jungle saw him unleashing his comedic chops and - having spent a lot of the time with the man over the years - we know he can be a very funny charismatic character. So to say we're excited about this project is an under-statement.
Jean-Claude will next be seen in Kickboxer: Vengeance where he plays the mysterious Master Durrant (who must train the young hero to defeat the villainous Tong Po), and while we're still waiting for the release of The Eagle Path, other rumoured JCVD projects include Antwerp Heist, The Penrose Affair and his long discussed full-blooded martial arts movie The Tower.
Scott himself will also be busy in the next few months readying Alien: Covenant, the latest title for the Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel...
