The major US networks have started giving indications of the way they are approaching the next season and that means that many television shows will NOT be returning in September/October. We already noted that The Chicago Code was one of the first to fall - while it was a critically-acclaimed show it didn't have the steallar ratings needed. Now V and The Event have been axed, neither managing to recover from a fall in ratings due to a lengthy hiatus and poor scheduling. There remains a very slim chance another network might show interest in The Event, though this seems unlikely.
After an uphill battle to get to the screen, Wonder Woman also looks to have missed out on a schedule placing - the already-shot pilot finding very mixed reviews with selected preview audiences. Impact is running an overview of the problems in the new issue out on 26th May. The procedural spin-off, Law & Order: LA, despite major retooling, is also off the schedules for the Autumn/Fall as is supherofest No Ordinary Family.
Of course, a major fan favourite Smallville, reaches a natural end this week, after a ten year run and perhaps literally clearing theway for a theatrical version of Superman, starring Henry Cavill, next year...
