GI Jonesing for Wonder Woman

Man up... or maybe woman up... there's significant casting news as Adrianne Palicki joins the military cast of the GI Joe sequel for release in 2012...

1 July 2011

Wonder Woman may not have gone forward as a series, but that doesn't mean that its titular star Adrianne Palicki won't be involved in significant action in the near future. She has just been cast as the female lead in the sequel to GI Joe (tentatively entitled  G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes). The character she will be playing is Lady Jaye and the actress will appear alongside already confirmed actors such as the returning Channing Tatum and the recently announced Dwayne Johnson (playing 'Roadblock'). Deadline also reports that Ray Park is likely to reprise his role as Snake-Eyes with Byung Hun-lee back as Storm Shadow.

One reason for the raft of casting news is that filming should soon get underway soon as the sequel is likely to bow next summer in a spot originally intended for the delayed Star Trek sequel. GI Joe is seen, like Transformers (also based on a Hasbro toy range), as a popcorn movie ideal for the summer blockbuster corridor.
