Arnold's First Move: Last Stand

20th July 2011

Arnold Schwarzenegger has had a memorable 2011 for all the wrong reasons, but is hoping that he can kick off 2013 with a return to big-screen action...

Lionsgate have just confirmed that  The Last Stand - Arnie's comeback vehcile after his time as Governor of California, - now has a scheduled release date of  January 18, 2013. The film, to be directed by  Kim Jee-Woon,  takes place in a US border town where a disgraced Los Angeles cop takes a job to forget his past. Naturally that doesn't last when things are complicated by the arrival of a druglord and his violent entourage and a hostage. It's now up to our hero to stop the bad guy making it to the border...

Recent events (revelations of Schwarzanegger having a love child and his subsequent split from wife Maria Shriver) led to Arnold stepping away from his major cinematic plans (including a possible Terminator revival) but The Last Stand looks to be the first steps to him returning to the industry in which he made his fortune.
