In the interest of fairness, it's only right to point out that after all its extensive difficulties and somewhat self-inflicted wounds, Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark has some good news at last. It became the highest grossing show on Broadway over the holidays, not only ebating but shattering the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history. Industry site Deadline reports that It also recorded the highest single-week attendance by any show there as well .
The troubled show, originally helmed by Julie Taymor and with music from Bono and The Edge, cost around $75 million so despite breaking records over the holidays and it has been calculated that it would need over a $1 million in box-office every week to cover all costs... so it may be a while before its reputation actively improves.
