Thai games developer Studio HIVE and film studio Sahamongkol Film International have announced that they will be working together on a computer games based on the martial arts franchise Ong Bak - a franchise in itself that refuses to be ignored.
In an interview with playstationlifestyle, the Studio's General Manager Kan Supabanpot revealed only mimimal details about the concept behind the game, refusing to say whether it was based on the period-drama aspect or in a more contemporary setting. He did say that it is running parallel with a project 'yet to be announced' which some take to mean a further Ong-Bak big screen outing may well be in the offing.
It was stated that franchise star Tony Jaa IS involved in the project, as is Panna Rittikrai, Jaa's mentor and original Ong-Bak director and that the film will have some dark themes running through it, aiming for an international release sometime late in 2012, rather than worrying about some of the restrictions Thailand has placed on some previous action games.
