Indonesian martial arts hero Iko Uwais from The Raid & Merantau will be facing off against Yuen Woo-ping protégé Tiger Chen in Keanu Reeves directorial debut Man of Tai Chi. The film has already been shooting in China and Hong Kong for the last few months. Reeves learned martial arts from Chen for The Matrix series and the two developed the project together over the last few years.
The movie which features action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping, follows one young martial artist’s journey as he is drawn into the darker aspects of the martial arts on a journey of self discovery. The film's villain is played by Reeves, while Simon Yam, Karen Mok, Michael Tong, Sir JBS, and Sam Lee also appear in the film. Impact’s Far Eastern Editor Mike Leeder has also been working on the film for several months casting various fighters for the film which, according to Reeves, will feature more than forty minutes of fight sequences!
