We've always been a big supporter of internet projects - following the likes of The Hunted, The Confession, The Danger Element... so we thought it only right to draw your attention to a new 'net project starting to get some attention. It comes from the mind of a young gentleman who we think has quite a career ahead of him... one Tom Hanks.
Tom Hanks' Electric City is part anime, part-noirish steampunk, part post-apocalyptic gangster epic.... the interconnecting story of the hardships and triumphs of some of the more interesting people popualting the ramshackle metropolis of the title. It's got a certain edge to it, mixing attitude, violence but a certain amount of roamnce and nostlagia. Think of it as a less nihilistic, more colourful Sin City (with a running joke that people actually say 'expletive')
So far, the net series has been getting generally positive reviews, only hampered by somewhat limited public awareness (strange for a project with Hanks' name attached and additional voice performances from the likes of Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ginnifer Goodwin etc) and the fact that the five minute episodes tend to unfortunately end just as they build up steam - we'd really suggest combining the episodes into longer segments. But there's certainly some passion and imagiantion on show and we're also impressed by the well-crafted audio as well as the visuals
