Primeval: New World, already sold to Canadian, French and UK channels, looks set to be gathering speed internationally. In the all-important US market, the series has now been confirmed for Syfy and internet-on-demand service Hulu . Though an exact broadcast date for the US market hasn't been confirmed, this is a strong vote of confidence in the show and it will be sometime in 2013. The series will be seen first on the UK's WATCH channel and Canada's SPACE channel in the enxt couple of months...
It is not surprising that the show is proving popular with schedulers and programme-buyers across geographical boundaries, given the passionate fanbase of the original UK show and the fact that the series did well when rebroadcast in the US on BBC America.
The thirteen-episode new run - already lensed in Vancouver earlier this year - has a line-up including Niall Matter (from Eureka), Sara Canning (from The Vampire Diaries) and British-botn actor Danny Rahim (Young James Herriot) as a new Canadian team that discovers the time-anomalies which are allowing creatures from the past to to come into the present. Andrew Lee-Potts, from the original show will guest-star.
As we've previously reported, the show's creative team is headed up by Executive Producers Martin Wood (Sanctuary, Stargate SG1) and Gillian Horvath (Sanctuary, Highlander), so there's a strong pedigree behind the scenes as well...
