When Transformers launched, cinema critics and audiences noted a watershed moment in the scale of cinema visuals not unlike the moves forward in the likes of Jurassic Park. Since then, big robots and interstellar battles have become something of the norm. However when you take the mechanoid idea and put it in the hands of a visual storyteller like Guillermo del Toro you're likely to get something special.
We can't tell you whether Pacific Rim is going to reign over this year's summer blockbusters or not - that will come down to the combination of many factors. However we can tell you that this advance trailer, originally intended for just the recent WonderCon audience but now going wide, looks quite stunning indeed. At least on a visual level, this film is so far promising everything a self-respecting Impact reader could require...
