We heard about this a couple of days ago, but even we weren't prepared for just how quickly this video has gone viral. Yes, Jean Claude van Damme isn't drinking a cold beer for this commercial... but it must have taken some dutch courage to even think about taking part in this demonstration of automotive technology, precision driving and sheer, raw nerve... not to mention that we wouldn't have attempted this at ANY age, even on terra forma.
The first time we watched it, we looked for visual effects, strings, wires and select editing, but if there is any sleight-of-hand, we can't detect it and the makers ensure the public it was all doen for real. Yes, it appears that this really is Jean Claude, genuinely doing the splits, suspended only by his balance and muscles betwen two moving Volvo lorries, travelling in parallel... and backwards. VERY convincingly.
AND and Enya soundtrack as well.
That's just showing off.
But we'd like to see any of his contemporaries try this... though perhaps we wouldn't recommend it...
UPDATE: It seems Channing Tatum has taken up the challenge ont set of the 21 Jump Street sequel...
