Godzilla - Trailer Tramples Tokyo?

Up from the depths and into cinemas in May 2014, this teaser trailer is our first chance to glimpse the new Godzilla...

Godzilla teaser trailer launchesSadly for an entire generation, the legend that was the almighty Godzilla has been reduced to a Saturday morning cartoon and the well-intentioned but misfiring 1998 movie by Roald Emmerich which co-starred Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno.

Gareth Edwards could be the man to change that when his version of the cinematic thundr lizard starts to trample Tokyo in 2014. There's been much anticipation for this - Edwards previously brought us the much-aclaimed Monsters in 2010 and it somehow only seemed right he'd graduate to one of the best known monsters before long. What then do we make of this teaser trailer? Well, as we've begun to expect, less footage of the title character than we'd hope, but certainly a setting of the tone of the piece and an idea of how the film that surrounds Godzilla will look - perhaps a less neon-hued Pacific Rim and a definite military-bent.

We'll know for sure on 16th May...
