The original Sin City movie, released in 2005, somewhat divided critics. There was absolutely no doubt that the Robert Rodriguez adaptation of Frank Miller's acclaimed comics/graphic novels was a visually striking movie, packed to the trim with star turns, overflowing with stylised violence and with a noir heart beating within. But there were equally those who said that beyond the viusal, it was a bit self-indulgent and a prime example of style over content. Those same differing crowds will probably have much to discuss when the prequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For debuts in August, with Miller and Rodriguez once again sharing directing duties (no Tarantino-assist this time)
The trailer suggests we're in for more of the same. The cast is just as diverse with new faces including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Rosario Dawson, Ray Liotta and Juno Temple, joining the likes of returning performers Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson.
The controversial Miller recently directed another green-screen epic, 300: Rise of an Empire which has had equally... mixed reviews.
We'll see in a few months the result of his Sin City return...
