TRAILER: Dracula Untold

24th June 2014

The Lord of the Vampires has 'risen' countless times. Will the latest outing 'Dracula Untold' - released later this year - be Vlad to the bone?

When we first heard about Dracula Untold we had a nasty suspicion that it could be in the vein (no pun intended) of I, Frankenstein - a film that followed the 'Underworld'  type of branding and a familiar format that actually bore very little resemblance to its source material. The first poster for '...Untold' also invoked a sense of deja-vu.

Now that the first trailer for the film has arrived it begins to look a little more interesting. Yes, a good portion of the trailer is dominated by special-effects, but they are well-executed and though the story is not the traditional Dracula outing, there have been enough deviations and additions over the years to make his origin story ripe for exploring in any number of ways. The cast - Luke Evans as Vlad Tepes,  Dominic Cooper as Mehmed and an assortment of other names such as Charlie Cooper (soon to be Marvel's new Daredevil), Black Sails' Zach McGowanand Sarah Gadon look to be well cast and the 'Legendary Pictures' brand has never been backwards at coming forwards on the mass carnage front.

The teaser does boast the most 'different' take on Tears for Fears 'Everybody wants to Rule the World' we've heard..

The film arrives in the UK in the first week of October and will open in the US later that month.
