Capaldi suits his new Who role...

It may be about time-travel but each new Doctor Who turns into something of a costume drama... Here's the look Capaldi will sport later in the year...

Capaldi as WhoBow-ties are SO last year. But suits... especially streamlined suits are cool.

Well, it's not as vibrant as Colin Baker's choices and it could be argued it makes Mattt Smith's look positively wacky, but the somewhat restrained look for thr new Doctor Who seems to be meeting with a decent reaction in the few minutes it's been online. The new incarnation's costume is sedate but seems to suit (no pun intended), the slightly older-looking Doctor.

It's also interesting to notice that in a higher-resolution version of this image, Capaldi is wearing Doc Marten boots (some Daleks are in for a kicking?) and also his wedding ring. If he didn't remove the wedding ring for the photo-shoot, was that an oversight, or will that be true of the Doctor? (He technically DID mary River Song...)

Capaldi is currently filming the next series in and around Cardiff with an expected air-date sometime in August or September. The series will be broadcast over consecutive weeks rather than being split as in recent years.  We don't know a lot about the stories that will come (though there are plenty of rumours). Early shooting of scenes has seen Capaldi in a night-shirt and on horseback and it looks as if the opening story will be set in Victorian England. The characters of Madame Vastra, Jenny and Straxx will also be appearing.

Capaldi can also be seen in the new series 'The Musketeers' that is broadcast in the UK on BBC1 every Sunday evening.
