Does 'King' Yen still yearn for Ip Man 3D?

With the much-anticipated 'Monkey King' now opening across the East, will Donnie Yen be re-igniting the cancelled 'Ip Man 3D' project..?

Donnie Yen as the Monkey KingDonnie Yen’s Monkey King has hit the big screen across Asia this Chinese New Year and he’s finally wrapped on the epic two part time-travelling swordplay adventure Iceman Cometh, the first part of which should hit the screen this summer. He’s also got the thriller Last of the Best/Kung Fu Killer due for release and gives a very amusing turn as Tony Leung’s The Grandmaster take on martial arts master Ip Man in Sandra Ng’s Lunar New Year comedy Golden Chicken 3.

Yen had previously stated that he felt the Ip Man saga had run its course: “I’ll leave that to fate, but I’ll definitely play Ip Man again,” he says. “I won’t be doing it any time soon, though, because there are so many Ip Man [movies] around. You are Ip Man! He is Ip Man! Everyone is Ip Man! Even the audience is getting bored at the moment.”

Maybe he has changed his mind, as it would seem that the much delayed and then officially cancelled Ip Man 3D may be starting up again with Yen to reprise his role in the film. The producers hope will commence filming once Yen has completed Dragon City & Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2.
