Miranda Otto joins ’24’ spin-off…

There’s more news on the ’24:Legacy’ casting front. ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Homeland’ star Miranda Otto joins Corey Hawkins in the spin-off…

Further to the news that Corey Hawkins will be Eric Carter, the new tough guy around which 24: Legacy will pivot, further casting news come down the espionage grapevine. Miranda Otto, star of Lord of the Rings (where she played Eowyn), Homeland and the upcoming, troubled production of WestWorld has been brought on to the production to play Rebecca Ingram, the show’s female lead. The character is the former head of CTU, described as being ‘blazing smart’ and  former head of CTU. Ingram left CTU and is now married to a Senator, John Donovan, but she is having second thoughts about her decision to depart the Counter-Terrorism Unit. When Carter uncovers a plot to conduct a massive strike against mainland America, she is drawn back into the struggle.

At the moment, 24: Legacy only has a pilot commitment but it seems an almost iron-clad guarantee that it will be picked up for a series run – believed to be a twelve-episode run like 24: Live Another Day which kept the ticking-clock format but which allowed for some latitude in moving the action along.
