Don't swear, you'll be fined! Don't smoke cigarettes and don't take salt with your food! They're both considered unhealthy and are therefore illegal. In the year 2032, these are just a few of the rules which the citizens of Los Angeles - actually renamed San Angeles - must adhere to. Conjured up by Marco Brambilla, a commercial director who is making his theatrical debut, this ideal, post earthquake, crime free and seemingly harmonious utopia is the setting for Warner Brothers' brand new action filled futuristic thriller, Demolition Man.

Produced by Joel Silver, Michael Levy and Howard Kazanjian, Demolition Allan is also the nickname of the story's hardened cop John Spartan, played by Sylvester Stallone. To back-track just a little bit, the tale begins in the hellacious Los Angeles of 1996, where crime and chaos rule side by side. With a solid "shoot now, ask later" attitude, Spartan is intent on rescuing thirty hostages who have been hidden away in a deserted warehouse by the psychotic Simon Phoenix, alias Wesley Snipes. However, when the rescue attempt - which features a seemingly endless array of explosions and lethal body blows - goes horrendously wrong, Spartan and Phoenix find themselves incarcerated, for a very long time, in brand new cyronic prisons.
