The award winning writing/directing team of Sunny Luk and Longman Leung struck gold at both the box office and the Hong Kong Film Awards with their first film, Cold War which saw Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung as rival police officers trying to solve a mysterious crime in Hong Kong. The film was the highest grossing Hong Kong movie of 2012 and has just been given a North American release by Lionsgate, and a sequel is in development.
Their second film Helios is for Media Asia, an ambitious action thriller that follows stolen nuclear weapons from North Korea to South Korea and onto Hong Kong where they are offered for sale. The film boasts an impressive cast that includes Nick Cheung, Shawn Yue, Jackie Cheung, Chang Chen from Crouching Tiger..., Janice Man from Nightfall, Korean actors Ji Jin-hee, Choi Si-won and Chinese actor Wang Xueqi from Iron Man 3... as well as a number of faces familiar to Impact including British martial arts actors and stuntmen Andy Taylor and Craig Miller, Wing Chun maestro Chris Collins, Temur Mamisashvii, Phillipe Joly, Tom Caserto... and playing a double role as twins Chad and Alex is non-other than Impact's very own Far Eastern Editor, Mike Leeder - who can be glimpsed look big bad and bald in the first trailer for the movie which can be seen below...
The film features fight and stunt choreography by Chin Kar-lok and his team (The Viral Factor, Cold War), while Chris Collins was brought onto the film as a 'Special Operations' consultant and for additional choreography (he was on Benny Chan's The White Storm.
The film just wrapped principal photography and should hit the screen next summer.
