Joe Taslim, known to action-fans for his appearances in The Raid and Fast & Furious 6, will be heading into outer space for his next key role. The Indonesian actor and martial-artist has just signed on to join the cast of Star Trek: Beyond, the third film since the classic sci-fi franchise was booted by J J Abrams with a new cast and continuity. Taslim will be working in Vancouver alongside the regular cast including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho and Simon Pegg.
Taslim's casting, possibly as a villain, comes after the announcement that Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella will also be appearing in the latest chapter under the direction of Justin Lin, (with whom Taslim worked on Fast and Furious 6).
At this point the film, from a script by Simon Pegg himself, looks set for a 8th July 2016 release...
