Everyone’s favourite sweetie man, Sharlto Copley, and Neill Blomkamp, the director that gave him his huge break in sci-fi District 9, are to team up once again for Blokamp’s latest project, Elysium.
The director is reported by Empire to have said nearly a year ago that his new film is intended to be “hopefully commercial, but it is very much a singular film that comes directly from me. It is absolutely another science fiction film, quite different from District 9, but some of the blending of genres and the tone might be within the same realm.”
To confirm, Elysium has no connection whatsoever to the plot of District 9, and is reported to be set in the distant future on another planet. Copley is the only confirmed actor as yet and very little else has been revealed so far. With the film’s story taking place on a different world, it’s safe to say this project doesn’t appear to be in any way linked to Blomkamp’s AGM Heartland viral trailer currently buzzing around the 'net and can be seem below.
