Will Hit Girls make a Killing?

Docu-director turns her hand to a new drama- project, Hit Girls – and she is bringing some major behind-the-scenes Australian talent along for the ride…

Australian Vietnamese film-maker Maria Tran first came upon the radar with Impact when she the award winning Maximum Choppage a few years ago – and then began work on the ambitious Quest for Jackie Chan which has seen her travelling across Australia & the world exploring the impact has had on fans and film-makers.

Her latest project is Hit Girls, a styled action comedy that follows two very different female assassins, assigned to work together on a mission that will ultimately lead them into a very bizarre love triangle! It is written and directed by Tran, who also plays one of the female assassins opposite aspiring Hong Kong actress JuJu Chan

“While being shot  on a shoestring budget, it has created opportunities for the locals to gain experience as cast, crew and extras in a martial arts genre flick” says Tran. The short was shot on a RED Epic as provided by Jusmedia Productions, with other equipment ranging from homemade dollys, guns and a team of people ranging from entry level to professionally indie.

On the other side of Fairfield, Australia’s largest Vietnamese martial arts centre are busy with acting, stunts and fight rehearsals in amongst creating the large set pieces and explosives that pack a punch. “The centre is filled with kids who are coming in to contribute to such a high energy project. They get to share ideas, learn new skills in digital media as well as movie making.” says , Dong Tam General Manager.

This project is a collaboration between Fideo Films Production, Jusmedia, Dong Tam Youth Association, Phoenix Eye Transmedia and Digital Series.  The project is also looking for support from the public, so take a look at their Indigogog campaign at: www.indiegogo.com/hitgirls
