Inhumans: First look at the ‘First Family’…

Inhumans

More Marvel shows will be hitting screens in the next year. Now we get our first look at ABC’s ‘Inhumans‘…

Inhumans is one of a raft of new Marvel shows that will be heading to screens in the next year. In this case, the show will actually debut with a special IMAX presentation of its two premiere episodes on 1st September before being broadcast on US network ABC for its full run starting later in September.

Originally the concept was touted in the line-up of forthcoming big-screen Marvel films, but it vanished from the proposed schedule before anything was ever filmed and now appears to have been geared towards a television format instead. The series looks to be tonally different from some of the other Marvel shows and though the Inhumans (a parallel race of often empowered humanoid life but absolutely, definitely not mutants) have been featured in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the new show is being described more as a super-tinged family drama – essentially a story of intrigue, betrayal and family dysfunction – basically Game of Thrones with more lycra.

Industry magazine Entertainment Weekly provide fans with a first look at the main cast where we can meet the Inhumans ‘Royal’ family…Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Medusa (Serinda Swan), Crystal (Isabelle Cornish), Maximus (Iwan Rheon), Karnak (Ken Leung), and Gorgon (Eme Ikwuakor).

It’s hard to tell at this point how well the visualisation of the characters, transferred from the comics, will work. Certainly some of these ‘looks’ work better than others – some looking more organic, some like fan-costumes – Medusa’s is particularly hair-raising and makes us want to wig out –  but the success of the show will likely be more in its execution and we want to see the visual-effects in action before casting any proper judgement……

And a brief trailer…
