It's been a long time since Pierce Brosnan hung up his 007 credentials but he's still managed to appear in some interesting films - some that play off those Bondian credentials, some very different.
However we like the look of his next, The November Man, something of a passion project for the actor. When Brosnan left the James Bond franchise nearly a decade ago, he and production partner Beau St.Clair were very interested in bringing the Bill Granger novels - featuring the character of ex-CIA operative Peter Devereaux - to the screen. Various delays happened, but Brosnan kept the rights and last year it finally went into production, under diretcor Roger Donaldson, the on-screen story being based on the seventh Devereaux title 'There are No Spies'.
Brosnan's Devereaux finds himself facing his own sharp-shooting protege David Mason (Luke Bracey - ex of Home & Away, G I Joe: Retaliation and due to star in the remake of Point Break) as a conspiracy is uncovered involving the CIA and the new Russian President-elect. The trailer indicates the more gritty story as Devereaux faces up to elements of his tragic past as well as the future.
The film also stars the likes of Olga Kurylenko, Will Patton and Eliza Taylor. There are hopes that if the film does well it will kickstart a new franchise for Brosnan, with the character and stories proving a much darker take on the world of spies - more Jack Reacher than James Bond.
